The White Dragon fights in the open, raising banners and rallying armies; the Black Dragon works in the spaces between, removing the heads of threats before they can rally in the first place. Both clans answer to the broader defense of Earthrealm, but their methods and secrecy levels keep them in separate orbits. Below, in the tavern called the Broken Anchor, a Shokan warlord was negotiating the sale of a captured Elder God's relic to a fleet of Outworld galleys already anchored in the bay. No army would arrive in time. No tournament would be called. There would be no witnesses, no trial, no justice in any human court.

He dropped. The ice that followed was not a weapon so much as a verdict—fingers of frost threading through the warlord's joints, the galleys' rigging, the very salt in the harbor water, freezing the negotiation into a tableau of blue-white stillness.
